Gwinnett Police responded to a shoplifting incident at Ace Hardware on Athens Highway in Loganville on February 8. The suspect absconded with approximately $1,200 worth of DeWalt tools and fled in a dark-colored Nissan Rogue before store employees could intervene effectively. This critical information was relayed to uniformed officers on the ground. Officers successfully located the vehicle and apprehended the suspect, identified as Kevin Elam, a 36-year-old individual from Indianapolis, Indiana. His bond amount has been set at $4,600.

Following the arrest, three boxes of power tools were recovered and returned to the hardware store. The collaboration between on-site officers and the Situational Awareness and Crime Response Center played a pivotal role in resolving the incident and apprehending the suspect.
