Arrest Made in Series of Armed Robberies in Gwinnett County

Gwinnett County Police detectives have apprehended Aron Castillo (26, Lawrenceville) in connection with a series of four armed robberies.

The incidents unfolded on October 7 when uniformed officers responded to a person shot call at The Falls Parkway in Duluth. The victim reported being shot, and his firearm was stolen during the incident. Subsequently, on November 3, warrants were obtained against Castillo for charges including Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Battery. At that time, Castillo was not in custody.

The crime spree continued on November 11 with an armed robbery reported at 3600 Park Colony Drive in Norcross. The victim detailed being pistol-whipped and robbed of both cash and a cell phone. Another armed robbery occurred on Sparrows Lane in Norcross on November 18, where three victims were robbed of their wallets, money, and bank cards. During the altercation, one victim sustained a gunshot wound to the finger. On November 25, yet another armed robbery was reported on Sparrows Lane, with the victim indicating the theft of a backpack and cash.

On December 1, Castillo was taken into custody during a traffic stop, and he now faces an array of charges, including Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, multiple counts of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault, four counts of Possession of a Firearm During a Commission of a Felony, Possession of Methamphetamine, Battery, and 24 additional gang-related charges. As of now, Castillo is being held in the Gwinnett County Jail.
