Senator Clint Dixon (R-Gwinnett) has released a statement condemning recent swatting calls targeting him and fellow Senate members. In the statement, Senator Dixon expressed gratitude for the safety of his family, colleagues, and their families. He commended the swift response of Gwinnett local law enforcement and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) in handling the swatting incidents.

“Swatting” is a false report of a crime or emergency that is intended to draw a police presence to a location.

Dixon affirmed his commitment to collaborating with law enforcement for a comprehensive investigation into the threats. Undeterred by the senseless actions, he pledged to continue serving the constituents of the state. Looking ahead to the 2024 Legislative Session, Senator Dixon announced plans to work with Senators from both sides of the aisle to introduce legislation aimed at strengthening penalties for false reporting and the misuse of police forces.

Highlighting the non-partisan nature of the issue, Dixon emphasized its significance for public safety and the preservation of institutional integrity. He asserted that threats of violence and intimidation would not be tolerated and called for holding those involved in swatting accountable to the fullest extent of the law.
