Fatal Shooting and Brawl Erupt at Fort Valley Party, Two Arrested

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, the Fort Valley Police Department (FVPD) responded to a report of a disturbance in the 900 block of Orange Street. The incident began with a fight among several female juveniles attending a party, which quickly escalated after parents and guardians were alerted.

During the altercation, an unidentified male bystander attempted to intervene. Gunshots were fired during the chaos, resulting in the bystander, later identified as Miccah Mccant, sustaining a gunshot wound. Mccant was then struck by a dark-colored vehicle at the scene.

Emergency medical services (EMS) were summoned immediately, and Mccant was transported to Peach County Medical Center. Despite efforts to save him, Mccant was pronounced deceased at 11:06 PM that evening.

Following an investigation, FVPD made two arrests in connection with the incident. Beonkia Rumph was charged with aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz), and possession of drug-related objects. Dexter Oliver was charged with murder.
