Missing Elderly Resident Found Alive in Forsyth County Rescue Operation

Earlier this week, an 80-year-old resident was reported missing by his family in Forsyth County. The elderly man, who had numerous health issues, had wandered away from his residence, prompting concerns due to rising temperatures in the mid-90s. The search effort was swiftly mobilized, beginning with 30 deputies along with K9 and Drone units from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO). The Forsyth County Fire Department joined the operation, expanding the search area as the need for assistance grew.

With support from neighboring agencies, what began as a small-scale search escalated into a large-scale operation involving nearly 100 public safety personnel. After more than 5 hours, the missing man was discovered in a heavily wooded area. He was found suffering from dehydration and minor injuries, conditions that could have worsened without timely intervention.

Deputies, firefighters, and EMS responders quickly provided medical assessment and transported him for urgent medical treatment. The successful rescue was attributed to the collaborative efforts of multiple agencies, including Central EMS, Johns Creek Police K9 unit, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, Hall County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, Cobb County Sheriff’s Office K9 unit, and Georgia State Patrol Aviation unit.
