Driver Flees After Striking Pedestrian in Macon, Victim Critically Injured

MACON, Ga. – A 34-year-old man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle early Thursday near the intersection of Spring and Willow streets in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The Macon-Bibb E-911 Center received a call around 12:30 a.m. reporting a person down in the roadway.
When deputies arrived, they found the man unresponsive in the street with injuries indicating he had been struck by a vehicle.
The driver involved in the collision left the scene without reporting the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pedestrian was taken for medical treatment and remains in critical condition. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.
Authorities have not released a description of the vehicle or driver involved.
