Passenger Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash at Macon Intersection

MACON, Georgia – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred Thursday night at the intersection of Bethel Church Road and Knoxville Road in Macon.

According to authorities, the crash was reported to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center just before 10 p.m.

Preliminary investigators determined that a Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Knoxville Road when an Audi SUV entered the intersection while traveling eastbound on Bethel Church Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

A passenger in the Nissan, identified as 52-year-old Tony Gales, was seriously injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, Gales later died from his injuries.

Officials said no other injuries were reported.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Gales’ next of kin has been notified.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
