15-year-old Charged With Murder After Deadly Shooting in Berrien County

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested a 15-year-old in connection with a deadly shooting that left a Ray City man dead Monday night.

According to the GBI, 15-year-old Austin Abrams of Ray City, has been charged with:

  • Felony Murder
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime

The charges stem from the shooting death of 42-year-old Michael Paris of Ray City.

Authorities said deputies with the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office responded around 10:18 p.m. on May 18, 2026, to a shooting on Weaver Road in Ray City.

When deputies arrived, they found Paris lying in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds.

Paris was pronounced dead at the scene.

The GBI Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators said Abrams was arrested and transported to the Waycross Regional Youth Detention Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The case will be turned over to the Alapaha District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
