Man Arrested in Deadly Columbus Shooting at Merrywood Drive
COLUMBUS, Ga. — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this week, according to the Columbus Police Department.
Korbet Lesamuel Smith, 27, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the death of 30-year-old Dean Hill.
Officers responded around 5:20 p.m. May 6 to the 4400 block of Merrywood Drive in the Wickham Heights area, where they found Hill suffering from a gunshot wound.
Hill was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said the arrest followed an investigation by the department’s Violent Crimes Unit.
The investigation remains ongoing.
