Man Dies After Shooting at South Macon Residence, Person of Interest Questioned

MACON, Ga. — A man has died after a shooting at a residence in Macon, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident was reported around 8:24 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2026, when deputies were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Canary Lane following a call of a person shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found a 41-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Authorities said deputies immediately began lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators said a person of interest was located at the scene and transported to the Criminal Investigation Division for questioning.
