Atlanta Police Arrest Armed Robbery Suspect After Pedestrian Hold-Up; Used Fake Gun
ATLANTA, Ga. — Atlanta police quickly arrested a suspect accused of robbing a pedestrian at gunpoint after officers used surveillance footage to identify and locate him nearby, authorities said.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, Zone 3 officers responded on February 18, 2026, to a reported pedestrian robbery in the 500 block of Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard SW.
Suspect Used Firearm During Robbery
Preliminary investigation revealed the suspect approached the victim, pointed what appeared to be a firearm, and robbed the individual of their wallet.
Responding officers immediately reviewed nearby security footage, which allowed them to identify the suspect within a short period of time.
Arrest Made Nearby
Officers canvassed the surrounding area and located the suspect a short distance away. Police said the individual was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers recovered what was determined to be a prop firearm believed to have been used in the robbery.
Charges Filed
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Qwantavis McClure.
McClure faces the following charges:
- Armed Robbery
- Aggravated Assault
- Giving False Information to a Law Enforcement Officer
