Man Arrested on Wesleyan College Campus After AR-15 Found in Vehicle
MACON, Georgia – A man was taken into custody early Thursday morning after Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies discovered a firearm inside a vehicle on the Wesleyan College campus.
According to a report, Patrol Division Deputy John Kile responded to a 4:47 a.m. assistance call from campus police after a Honda Accord that did not belong to a student was found illegally parked on campus. Authorities reported that what appeared to be a loaded AR-15-style rifle was in plain view in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
Deputies located the male suspect inside a campus dorm room, where he was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center and charged with carrying an illegal firearm in a school safety zone, possession of marijuana within a school safety zone, driving on a suspended license, driving with suspended vehicle registration, and no vehicle insurance.
The Georgia State Patrol also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
