Pedestrian Killed On Jeffersonville Road in Macon, Driver Faces DUI Charges
MACON, Ga. – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred Friday night on Jeffersonville Road.
The incident was reported to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center shortly after 9 p.m. on Jan. 23. Deputies said a man later identified as 36-year-old Eric Felix Wilburn was struck by a vehicle while walking along the roadway near the intersection of Jeffersonville Road and Purnell Drive.
Wilburn was pronounced dead at the scene. Bibb County Coroner Ronnie Miley said Wilburn’s next of kin has been notified.
Authorities said the driver, identified as 39-year-old Daniel Devone Hicks, remained at the scene and contacted 911 following the collision. Hicks was later transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, where he was charged with driving while license suspended, no insurance, expired license plate, driving under the influence of alcohol less safe, driving under the influence of alcohol, and an open container violation.
