Driver Arrested on Methamphetamine Charges After Traffic Stop in Haralson County
On December 12, 2024, a routine traffic stop in Haralson County led to the arrest of 42-year-old Christopher Alan Blackmon of Temple, GA, on drug trafficking charges.
Haralson County Crime Suppression unit officers were conducting a concentrated patrol in the Cashtown and US Highway 78 area when Cpl. Jarrett Chandler noticed a GMC Yukon with an improper license plate. The vehicle was stopped near Center Point Road, where Sgt. Swanger made contact with the driver. The driver, identified initially as Kevin Blackmon, claimed not to have identification on him but appeared nervous during questioning.
Sgt. Swanger, suspecting something was amiss, asked the driver to exit the vehicle for safety and conducted a pat down. During the search, a pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue was found. The driver was detained, and further investigation revealed his real identity as Christopher Alan Blackmon. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered 57 grams of suspected methamphetamine and Blackmon’s identification.
Blackmon was arrested and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Driving on a Suspended License, and License Plate Violation. The case has been handed over to the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force for further investigation.
