Stepson Wanted in Fatal Shooting of Columbus Man
On December 5, 2024, at 1:18 a.m., Columbus Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on Sorrel Court in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Sonny Chambers, a Black male, deceased from gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were unable to resuscitate him, and Deputy Coroners Mary Eugene and Elizabeth Allison pronounced him dead at 1:55 a.m.
The Violent Crimes Unit took over the investigation, and probable cause was established to issue arrest warrants for 22-year-old Quentez Thrasher, Chambers’ stepson. Thrasher is wanted for:
- Murder (Family Violence)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
