Man Charged with Murder Following Fatal Shooting in Midtown Atlanta

In the early hours of Sunday, November 24, 2024, Atlanta Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at 1150 Crescent Ave NE in Midtown Atlanta. The incident occurred around 1:46 a.m.

Officers working a city-approved extra job in the area immediately observed and detained a male shooter without incident. Nearby, officers located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound in an alleyway. Grady EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Following an investigation, APD Homicide Detectives charged the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Ricky Hutchinson, with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony. Hutchinson was transported to APD Public Safety Headquarters for further processing.

The investigation is ongoing.
