Inert Grenade Found on West Point Road in Troup County, Safely Disposed by GBI
On November 20, 2024, at 9:31 AM, deputies from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible grenade found on West Point Road.
A caller reported spotting what appeared to be a small tool bag in the roadway. After stopping to remove it, the caller noticed a grenade-like object inside, with tape wrapped around it. Concerned, the caller contacted 911.
Upon arrival, deputies secured the area and contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) bomb technicians. An agent quickly arrived, confirmed the object was an inert grenade, and took possession of it for safe disposal.
No injuries were reported, and the incident has been resolved.
