Deadly Head-On Collision on Atlanta Expressway Claims One Life

On Saturday, November 17, 2024, at approximately 5:10 AM, Atlanta Police responded to a crash on the 400 Northbound Expressway NE near Lenox Road NE involving a Kia Sorento and a Toyota Rav4. Upon arrival, officers found the 24-year-old female driver of the Kia unresponsive and not breathing. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The 52-year-old male driver of the Toyota was found unconscious but breathing. He was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the vehicles may have been traveling the wrong way on the expressway, resulting in a head-on collision. The Accident Investigations Unit responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.
