Gwinnett County Police confirmed on November 7 the arrests of two suspects involved in an October 18 carjacking at 911 Seasons Parkway in unincorporated Norcross. According to the victim, while he was seated in his parked vehicle, a Hispanic male approached, tapped on his windshield with a gun, and ordered him to exit. Once he complied, a second Hispanic male searched his pockets, taking his car keys and cellphone, before both suspects fled in the stolen car.

Approximately an hour later, officers located the stolen vehicle near Singleton Road and Harbins Road, aided by the department’s Aviation Unit. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspects fled, ultimately losing control and crashing down an embankment. Officers quickly surrounded the vehicle and safely detained the suspects.

The two suspects, identified as Amadeo Barragan-Carbijal, 25, of Atlanta, and Luis Contreras-Pineda, 23, of Norcross, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries from the crash. Both were later booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. Contreras-Pineda faces charges including hijacking a motor vehicle, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, while Barragan-Carbijal faces similar charges, including fleeing or attempting to elude for a felony offense.
