81-Year-Old Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive; Suspect Arrested

On November 2, 2024, at approximately 11:43 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 4 officers responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at 3700 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW. Upon arrival, officers found an 81-year-old woman who had been fatally struck. Medical personnel declared her deceased on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle fled before officers arrived. During the investigation, a 49-year-old man was located, arrested, and charged in connection with the incident. The investigation remains ongoing as officers work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal hit-and-run.
