Columbus Man Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident Involving Pedestrian

On October 27, 2024, at approximately 1:29 a.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to a hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian on Victory Drive near Benning Road. The pedestrian, identified as 35-year-old Anthony Hughley, was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The Motor Squad took the lead in the investigation, which resulted in the identification and arrest of the suspect, 26-year-old Adonis Cooley, on October 28, 2024. Cooley faces several charges, including homicide by vehicle (1st degree), hit and run, and additional traffic-related offenses.

This case remains under investigation by law enforcement officials.
