South Carolina Man Killed in Fatal Collision on I-16 East, Investigation Ongoing

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on September 12, 2024, on Interstate 16 East. The accident was reported to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center at 1:24 p.m. on Thursday.

According to reports, a Dodge Ram with a trailer collided with a semi-trailer truck while traveling on Interstate 16 East. The driver of the Dodge Ram was pronounced dead at the scene by Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones. The driver has been identified as forty-two-year-old Keith Bridgett of South Carolina. Coroner Jones confirmed that the next of kin has been notified.

The driver of the semi-trailer truck was not injured in the accident. Following the collision, all lanes on Interstate 16 East were shut down for the investigation and clean-up efforts.
